SugarCRM Problem - Code Changes Not Taking Effect

Do you like this?

Summary:
I encountered this problem when I first tried SugarCRM. I tried to edit the code so I could learn how the system worked. However, no changes took effect. This article shows you how I fixed the problem

The problem is SugarCRM uses a cache folder. When you access the website, what you see actually comes from the cache folder. Hence, you have to clear the cache folder at the root folder of SugarCRM installation. For example, as you can see below, I was trying to edit the Email Address Label. My first attempt was unsuccessful. It only worked when I renamed the cache folder to ~cache (instead of removing it completely).
Alternatively, you can also enable the Developer mode in System Setting: Admin -> System Settings -> Developer Mode -> enable.
