Who needs to undertake Skill Assessment

When you want to apply for Temporary Visa or Permanent Visa (PR), you have to undertake this procedure. Having said that, we also want to remind you there are various ways to apply for PR or any particular visa. Therefore, you can encounter different requirements depending on which type/situation you are in now. This article is written under the consumptions that you have graduated from an Australian university after 2 years full time study and now you want to apply for PR.

Steps

1. Assessing Authority

This section is to illustrate how you can choose the right Assessing Authority.

1) Enter "assessing authorities australia" in Google. If you are already in Australia, you can just search for "assessing authorities"

2) After you have been taken to the Immigration website of Australia, you can just follow step by step below:

3) You now can see the skill occupation list which lists all the occupations selected for Australian Immigration. On the right hand side, you can see the assessing authorities.

Now take a more closer look at this, you can notice there are occupations which have different fields:

From the screenshot, you can see for IT profession, you can belong to any of the following fields:

  • ICT Business Analyst

  • System Analyst

  • Analyst Programmer

  • Developer Programmer

  • Software Engineer

It can be very confusing because you could wonder which occupation you should apply for.

After checking everything, now you should know which assessing authority you should go for and exactly which occupation you should choose.

2. Where - Online Application

Because there are different assessing authorities for different professions, we only take one general example here based on which you can do your own application.

Firstly, let's search for your assessing authority + "skill assessment". In the following screenshot, we have taken Australian Computer Society to be our example:

Click on the first link on Google, you will be taken to the page with all the details for your online application:

3. Apply

Suppose in the middle, you want to save your temporary application which is incomplete, you can click on the Save button. After that you will be provided with a reference number which can be used to gain access to your application for further adjustment.

Using the reference number, you can login and continue your application. Everything will be the same as at the time you clicked on the Save button.

After your application has been received, you will receive this email:

4. Post

There will be a number of documents that you need to post to the assessing authority of your occupation. This varies but is listed in the confirmation email. Therefore, you just have to follow what is required. The following screenshots are just an example.

5. Result

Your result will be sent via email. Using this, you can submit documents for your Permanent Residency or Temporary Visa depending on what you need.
